Detroit Metropolitan Airport
Detroit Metropolitan (DTW) is slightly longer than 2.5 hour drive and is served by Air Canada Express, Alaska, American, American Eagle, Delta, Delta Connection, Frontier, JetBlue, Southwest, Spirit, United, and United Express.
Chicago O'Hare Airport
Chicago O’Hare (ORD) is a 2.5 hour drive and is served by Alaska, American, American Eagle, Delta, Delta Connection, Frontier, JetBlue, Spirit, Sun Country, Southwest , United, and United Express.
Chicago Midway Airport
Chicago Midway (MDW) is a 2.5 hour drive and is served by Delta, Delta Connection, Porter, Allegiant, Frontier, and Southwest.
Getting to The Dunes Resort from airports
All four airports listed above are served by major car rental agencies. Lyft and Uber can also get you to The Dunes Resort, but pricing can vary widely and is difficult to predict. Also, using a ride share to return to Grand Rapids is challenging as there are not many drivers in Saugatuck. A reserved rental car is usually the better option. You could arrange to share a car rental with other dancers flying into the same airport.
Rides from Grand Rapids or Chicago may also be available from local dancers. A good place to post requests for rides and shared rental cars is on our Hoedown Facebook Group page. This is a closed group that you will need to request to join if you aren't already a member. Hoedown In The Dunes is unable to directly match riders or provide a shuttle.
Getting around Saugatuck/Douglas
Once at The Dunes Resort, a car may be helpful for local sightseeing, access to Lake Michigan, and restaurants. Several restaurants are located in a 10-15 minute walk from the resort.
Ride share and taxi service
Uber is in Saugatuck, however, it's a small area so drivers may not be available at all times. You may be able to schedule rides using the app’s reservation feature. Cyndi's Moonlight Express is a local cab company - phone 269-910-3222.
